Helsinki Airport to the City Centre: A Practical Guide

Getting from Helsinki Airport to the city centre is easy without a car. Here are your options, ticket basics and tips for a smooth trip.

Train: the fastest way to the centre

The airport railway station is located under the terminal. I and P trains run between the airport and Helsinki Central Station. According to HSL, the I train takes about 27 minutes and the P train about 32 minutes.

Which train? Both end at Helsinki Central Station. Take whichever leaves first – the journey planner shows live departures.

Bus 600

HSL bus 600 runs from the airport to Helsinki city centre. According to Finavia the journey takes about 40 minutes, and the bus station is in front of the terminal on the arrivals level.

Ticket: you need an ABC ticket

The airport is in HSL zone C, so you need an ABC ticket to the centre. The same ticket works on trains and buses. Buy it in the HSL app, at a ticket machine or with contactless payment at the card reader.

Travelling with lots of luggage

The train is step-free and has room for suitcases. If your destination is far from a station, you arrive late at night, or you travel with small children, a ride straight to the door may be easier.
